USB has been around for quite some time now in what is now three separate guises, 1, 2 and most recently 3. USB 3 has been pushed in recent years as the future standard for data transfer, the only problem with this is that not many companies, never mind consumers have been quick on the uptake. Sure, it’s a lot faster than USB 2, and who wouldn’t want their peripherals to operate with a little more haste, the real issue however is that for a number of years now there has been a shady figure hiding in the darkened corners of the halls of Intel biding its time before leaping out to devour the competition. It seems that time may be now, or at least soon (ish). Read more…
Since Kinect hit the shelves there have been a number of rather impressive hacks. This time it’s about playing Street Fighter by throwing some shapes. Hadoken!

Some big rumours from Apple sources this week regarding the future direction os iOS products. Some of this is detailed so let’s keep this hard and fast for a change. iPhone 5, iPad 2 and Apple TV are all getting better this year. Now for the stuff you didn’t already know, how. Read more…
Over the past few days several photographs of third-party iPad 2 cases have hit the internet purportedly illustrating the shape and additional features of the inevitable refresh of Apple’s iPad line later this year.
Well, direct from the Consumer Electronics Show is the above shot published by iLounge and being shown at the show by peripheral company Gopod mobile. The company is showing off the case to illustrate its new foldable charging accessory.
Obviously there’s been nothing official from Apple yet on the iPad 2 and whilst the case shown above is not an iPad 2 and simply a mockup, it certainly reflects the information that has so far hit the internet about the slight re-design, speaker grill at the base and camera.
Whether you’re an iOS or Android fanboy, this Android handset by Samsung is worthy of your attention. Sporting a beautiful looking 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus (wow, rename it already) screen and a 1.2GHz processor, the fastest of any Android phone to date, this handset looks set to buck the trend of ugly, cheap Android handsets.
So is there a catch? Well, probably. Samsung has overlaid its own UI over the stock Android one, which will obviously come down to personal taste, but from experience with Samsung phones is unlikely to add much. There’s also the issue of battery life. If this bad-boy is running with a processor akin to that found in some netbooks I’m not entirely sure how “mobile”, as in not plugged into the wall, this device will be.
Either way, keep an eye out for this one. At least it looks pretty.
Today the Playstation 3 became an entertainment powerhouse as both Channel 4 and ITV’s on demand services made their way to the televisions across the UK. Playstation 1, Xbox 0.5(ish) Read more…
Over the past week rumours have begun to solidify that Sony is set to announce a Playstation Phone under it’s Sony Ericsson umbrella “soon”. In fact, yesterday some rather shaky footage appeared online purportedly showing the device in the hands of an unknown.
Hot on the heels of that rather unconvincing footage was the above. Released literally hours ago, the video appears to show a new Sony Ericsson device, “Zeus/Z1″ sporting the new Gingerbread version of Android. If you look closely enough at the menu screen there is also a rather familiar Playstation logo which, as demonstrated by the video below, would appear to launch the Playstation App. Read more…
Viber is a new VoIP solution for iPhone users. Much alike Skype, Viber allows users to talk to one another using using either 3G or WiFi. If you have lots of iFriends, this app could save your precious minutes.
Waiting for the catch? Well, you can keep waiting. Read more…
It’s all but a foregone conclusion that any revision of Apple’s iPad will harbour a FaceTime camera. In fact, if it doesn’t I will shut up shop and forgo my unofficial Apple Fanboy lifestyle.
Truth be told, I’m probably rather safe in the above assertion. Not simply because every other capable iOS 4 device now sports a handy front-facer, alongside the recent introduction of FaceTime for Mac so your BFF’s mug is never out of mind, but more assuredly as as result of the below.
