Windows Phone 7 Series: Info, pictures and video

February 15th, 2010 No comments

When a company says they have started from scratch with a new product and built it from the ground up, you can usually imagine that they’re telling little white lies. However, Microsoft, released its new mobile platform, Windows Mobile 7 Series in Barcelona yesterday, and they’ve done just that. Seriously, this platform is entirely unrecognisable as compared to previous iterations of the software. Microsoft has done the unthinkable and started right from scratch. What they have created, so far, looks little short of brilliant. Video and pictures after the break. Read more…

Following last week’s rumours that Taiwan-based manufacturer Foxconn had received orders to build the next iPhone, Toshiba have today announced their latest flash memory module. 64GB on a single NAND flash drive, the largest capacity in the industry. Six months before the iPhone 3GS was announced Toshiba announced their industry leading 32GB NAND chips which made their way into both the iPhone and iPod Touch. Is this a sign of things to come? Official Google Phone Pics Show Up Online

December 13th, 2009 No comments

This new phone is Google’s own Android phone and has been reported to include the following features:

- Android 2.1
- Snapdragon chip that makes the device “really, really fast”
- High resolution OLED screen
- Thinner than iPhone
- Two mics, one on the back to reduce background noise
- “Weirdly” large camera
- Touchscreen keyboard
- Voice to text for dictation

The phone has aparently been distributed to Google employees for testing and is said to be due for release in January 2010. The Snapdragon chip would appear to be based on the same generation of processor as the iPhone 3GS, though it is possible that it is running at a higher clock speed making that little bit zippier.

For the iPhone owner the choice of cases available in every high street shop or (knock-off) stall is rather limited. Since Tesco mobile is a joint venture with the UK’s largest mobile phone network, O2, it should probably come as no surprise that the iPhone will soon be making its way to the UK’s largest supermarket. What may come as a slight surprise is that Tesco have announced that they will be selling the iPhone in the UK in time for Christmas. Tesco’s big for global domination continues.

Motorola Milestone

Motorola have certainly stepped up their mobile game recently with the release of the Dext (Cliq). Having had a chance to spend a little time with the Dext courtesy of one very kind and special GU reader, I can safely say that the world should be saying a big welcome back ‘hello Moto’. The Dext is certainly not the best phone on the market but it does without a doubt do many things very well indeed. Recognising this the mobile manufacturer have Moto-rolled out their latest and revised handset, the Milestone. Read more…
