Apple acquires C3 Technologies

October 29th, 2011 No comments

In August, Apple acquired C3 Technologies, the company responsible for the incredible demonstration shown in the above video. With relationships becoming increasingly tense between Apple and Google, despite Apple renewing its commitment to Google Maps with iOS 5, you’d be blind not to see what Apple has up its sleeve.

iOS 6 is likely to launch at some point in 2012 and if they can pull off anything resembling the above, they look set to blow the competition out of the water.

How I knew Steve Jobs

I didn’t, but rather than repeat many of the things that have already been and will be written I wanted to share my impressions and thoughts on the man and his legacy.

We all knew, but didn’t want to admit that time was short and that yesterday’s news was inevitable. That didn’t make the truth any less shocking. Firstly, Steve Jobs was a father and a husband and whilst many people will be saddened by his death, his family’s loss, having suffered with him for so many years is unthinkable.

For everybody else, Steve was the man who stood in front of us a couple of times each year and announced Apple’s newest innovations. His white trainers, blue jeans, black turtle neck and glasses combo broke free of it’s cult appreciation shackles, he personified Apple, so much so that his name and the brand became synonymous not only to the few, but to the masses.

iCloud – 9 cloud apps R.I.P. MobileMe

June 6th, 2011 No comments

From the mouth of the man himself, what is iCloud? “iCloud stores your content in the cloud and wirelessly pushes it to all your device. It automatically uploads it, stores it, and pushes it to all your devices.”

By content we’re talking about pretty much everything; music, iBooks, photos and videos, device settings, and app data will all be backed up automatically when you connect to WiFi. Documents in the Cloud will effortlessly sync Pages, Numbers, and Keynote data between all of your iOS devices and calendars, mail and contacts will all sync for free. Here it is, the iPad 2. No philandering, let’s get straight into what’s changed, what’s stayed the same and what’s missing. At first sight your eyes may deceive you into thinking the new beast is the same as it’s predecessor, but you’d be wrong, quite wrong in fact.

February 23rd, 2011 No comments

Sock… Apparently Apple has something to talk to the world about and it would appear to be shaped a bit like an iPad.

The internet has been awash with iPad 2 speculation since the introduction of the first model. In the past few months numerous sources have all but confirmed the introduction of a front-facing camera and a much faster processor than the already zippy A4.

The above invite doesn’t exactly give anything away, but then this is Apple we’re talking about. All will be revealed on 2 March and you can tune in here for all the info.

Purported iPad 2 shots direct from CES

January 8th, 2011 No comments

Over the past few days several photographs of third-party iPad 2 cases have hit the internet purportedly illustrating the shape and additional features of the inevitable refresh of Apple’s iPad line later this year.

Well, direct from the Consumer Electronics Show is the above shot published by iLounge and being shown at the show by peripheral company Gopod mobile. The company is showing off the case to illustrate its new foldable charging accessory.

Obviously there’s been nothing official from Apple yet on the iPad 2 and whilst the case shown above is not an iPad 2 and simply a mockup, it certainly reflects the information that has so far hit the internet about the slight re-design, speaker grill at the base and camera.
