The guys over at Mission:Repair received their first shipment of replacement Apple iPad parts today and noticed something rather strange about the metal internal frame. It has a camera slot which, from their testing allows the perfect housing of the camera module from one of the new MacBook Pros. The camera slips into the frame, the lens fits the hole, the LED that indicates that the camera is on fits and the ambient light sensor hole is also correct. For those of you who have been hiding under a rock for the past six months or for those point-blank refusing to read anything to do with Apple’s tablet for fear of reading only accentuated fan-boy commentary or demeaning Cupertino-hating slander, Apple released their latest product, the iPad yesterday. As an Apple enthusiast watching the event and promotional videos and revelling in the photographs surrounding the launch was utter bliss, however in the midst of all the corporate propaganda and technical wizardry this Apple sympathiser partially lost his objectivity. Ok, so most of the information that has come out so far has been nothing more than rumour and speculation, some reliable and likely, some not. Its often easy enough to sift through the credibility of various sources and conjure a specification sheet for a device as highly anticipated as this, but never, and I mean never, has a credible source been confident enough as to confirm an Apple device before the words have been uttered by stage Steve himself.
