Apple announced today that the iPad will be available in the UK and in various other international territories on 28 May. Pricing is expectedly inflated and pans out as follows:

WiFi only models
16GB – £429
32GB – £499
64GB – £599

WiFi & 3G  models
16GB – £529
32GB – £599
64GB – £699

Surprisingly, the press released also notes that the iBookstore will be available as a free download from the App Store on 28 May. This may indicate that Apple has managed to resolve any outstanding international licence issues with publishers, but there is currently no word on how many books will be available or what publishers have signed up for UK (and international) sales via the iBookstore. Here’s hoping the library is the same as that across the pond.
