As predicted, when asked at the iPhone OS 4.0 event last week when the iPad would launch internationally, Steve Jobs replied “near the end of April.” Immediately it was obvious that April was no longer the target, as was confirmed today. A cursory glance at the UK Apple site today reveals that the iPad will be making its way to the UK in late May with pre-orders starting on May 10th. At least it gives us more time to save.

Apple have blamed the lag on the US popularity of the device saying that “Demand is far higher than we predicted and will likely continue to exceed out supply over the next several weeks as more people see and touch an iPad.”
