If ever there was an every-day item that needed re-invention its the UK three pin plug. The UK standard plug is the largest of its kind in the world and if you have ever tried to pack an electrical device into a carry case alongside a mains supply you will have experienced the shameful inconvenience it creates.  Min-Kyu Choi, who recently graduated from the Royal College of Art recently beat out the late Alexander McQueen for the Brit Insurance Design contest with this absolute gem. Unfortunately this design has yet to be picked up by any commercial manufacturer but if I were the inventor I would be getting a patent application submitted pretty sharpish and keeping this baby locked away in a vault somewhere. The design is quite simply brilliant and elegant and I for one would replace all the plugs in my life with this in a heart-beat. Not only does the design do away with the bulky UK standard plug, it also makes obsolete the use of huge multi-plug adapters requiring an extension adapter of a similar size to a standard UK plug equipped to take three of these slimline plugs.
