Derby inner ring road officially to be named Lara Croft Way
Its the little victories that count, and the public of Derby have spoken. With an overwhelming 89% of the 27,000 votes cast, Derby’s new £36.2 million inner ring road is set to named after the city’s most famous make-believe woman.
Created by local firm Core Design, Lara Croft has been the star of many brilliant and several average Tomb Raider games. Today, councillor Lucy Care said this to the BBC:
“The vote really captured the imagination of people from across the world and, despite my lack of gaming knowledge, I accept that a majority of 89% for Lara Croft is too overwhelming to ignore.
She was created in Derby and deserves to stand alongside some of the more traditional icons of the city.”
Brilliant!
