Playstation 3 3D is official – New firmware screens to prove it
Rumours of Sony introducing 3D capabilities to the Playstation 3 have been circulating for some time now, however earlier this week Sony confirmed that the dream was to become reality. No new hardware required, just a firmware update, and you’re away in 3D. Oh, you’ll need one of those 3D capable TV’s and a pair of over-priced glasses to enjoy the show though.
The new 3D features of the PS3 appear to have been implemented into the 3.20 firmware release which has now made its way into the hands of developers.
I’m yet to be convinced by 3D TV and or gaming in the home. The technology already exists, albeit in its infancy, to allow users to watch 3D entertainment without the need for glasses and I truly don’t see many people purchasing a whole households worth of special agent style visors to sit down and watch TV with. Not only is is a little impractical, lets face it, gamers don’t need much help looking uncool as it is. I know you can already see the look on your other half’s face.
