Project Natal: Release Date and Pricing Details
British trade site MCV have voiced details to industry sources today about the likely release date and UK price point of Microsoft’s Project Natal. Next Christmas should be a profitable one for Microsoft whilst remaining pleasant to the pocket of those wishing to dance around their living rooms.
Would-be buyers prepare yourself for 10 November 2010. The details have apparently emerged following a round of developer visits to the UK during which Microsoft were showing off the new tech. The same sources are indicating that there will be as many as 14 Natal-enabled games at launch with some 5 million cameras available for purchase on day one.
Most importantly however, is the price Microsoft are hoping to charge for the stand-alone camera. The camera is speculated to be priced at £50 with additional sources suggesting that Microsoft may sell the unit for as low as £30 to stimulate “impulse buys” for Christmas.
I’d spend £30 just for the priviledge of walking up to my Xbox and it recognising my face (or voice) and turning itself on, other less simple beings may find the more adventurous applications of the device their stimulation to splash out. If Natal launches in the £30-50 price range count me in.
