NSA Builds Yottabyte Storage Facility
The National Security Agency in the US is building a storage facility in Utah to play house with all your telephone calls, emails and any other electronic communication you might wish to send. Just how much storage space will they need? Apparently a Yottabyte should do the trick. So, how big is that?
CrunchGear put it most eliquently:
“There are a thousand gigabytes in a terabyte, a thousand terabytes in a petabyte, a thousand petabytes in an exabyte, a thousand exabytes in a zettabyte, and a thousand zettabytes in a yottabyte. In other words, a yottabyte is 1,000,000,000,000,000GB.”
So, the next time you think you have a lot of storage and reel over how long a defragmentation takes. Spare a thought for the poor b*****d who works in Utah.
