Facebook 3.0 for iPhone Available Now

The eagerly anticipated third installment of the iPhone’s Facebook app hits the App Store today. But you might not be prompted to update…Facebook 3.0 for iPhone has landed in the App Store today and speaking yet speaking from experience it wasn’t the usual “you have an app update available” to update. If, like me you use the Facebook app regularly your going to want to upgrade to the new version which carries with it a plethora of new features and increased stability.
New features include:
- Better news feed with direct links to comments
- Ability to “Like” posts
- RSVP to events
- Create/upload photos to albums
- Write/edit notes
- Customizable home screen
- Improved photo viewing with zoom
- Better notifications
My favourite feature without a doubt is the ability to call any of your contacts directly from the Facebook app. If your friends’ name has a phone icon next to it, tap it and you’ll be prompted to chose to call either their land or mobile number, or if you wish, to send them a text. Who needs a phonebook?
Additionally, it has been confirmed that version 3.1 is already in the pipeline which, it is rumored focuses on push notifications. If like me you weren’t prompted to update the app, search for it on the App Store and you should readily be able to install the new version from there without any complications. Happy stalking.
