Championship Manager takes a leaf from the books of Radiohead and offers their new PC game online for whatever price you decide to pay for it.

From now until September 10th, if you want to pick up the new Championship Manager by download the only thing you will be strictly required to pay is the £2.50 handling fee. Of course the idea is not that you just nab the game for free, the idea is that consumers pay what they think the game is worth.

To my knowledge this is the first time a major retail game has taken this approach following Radiohead’s famed stunt when selling their album In Rainbows. After September 10th the game goes back to full price. So nab yourself a bargain over at the Championship Manager website but remember, supporting the developers leads to better games in the future, so if you can spare the cash, pay that little bit extra.

Yeah, I think i’m all for it but it will never become the norm. Its good for promotional purposes though. I can’t imagine too many people are absolutely honest with how much they really would pay when you can get it for next to nothing. Relies far too much on honesty unfortunately.

I’m with you on that one, even though I’m not a fan of the genre, there aren’t many people that would contest that Football Manager is leaps and bounds ahead of Championship Manager.
