iPhone 3G S Launch Sales Surpass Expectations

When it was announced that the new iPhone model was to launch on the 19 Jun, analyst Gene Munster predicted that the handset would likely shift a rather conservative 500k units over its debut weekend. Our survey says… “Uh Urgh!”

With the iPhone 3G shifting somewhere in the region of 1 Million units over its launch weekend around 12 months ago the iPhone 3G S followed suit, Apple today announcing that over the three day period they sold over 1 Million handsets. In addition current iPhone 3G owners downloaded the new OS 3.0 a staggering 6 Million times over the same period. It looks as though there were those who did not upgrade from the iPhone 2G lingering in the backstreets after all and of course those who did upgrade to the 3G who have more money than sense.
