Xbox Live Marketplace – Games on Demand

It would appear Microsoft have surcome partially to the downfall of compressing huge games onto DV as compared to the relative freedom in capacity that Blu-Ray offers by announcing the release of it’s Xbkx Live Marketplace – Games on Demand service in august of this year.

Games such as Halo 3 and GTA IV which actually perform worse when installed to a hard drive will also be properly fixed to allow for this service.

Anyone feel the need for a bigger hard drive if this is the way we’re going? I honestly believe that digital distribution of games will be where consoles go in the future require far less offort for consumers benefiting manufactures as one would imagine the impulse purchase market would be far greater. In addition we get to save the planet on production materials, everyone’s a winner.

As games get bigger so too does the capacity of broadband and I for one would love to see full digital distribution of games. Gaming design to be run directly from a hard drive for everyone would make speed and latency issues much less apparent. Just my two cents.
